WHEN JAKE MET KARL

 Banyan tree are known for their long living branches descent through the tree. Consider as one of the oldest plants in Earths civilisation. Many people love and worship Banyan tree. Jake was one of them. After coming from the school, the first thing Jake does was to visit the Banyan tree. He named the tree Karl. Jake and Karl were friends. Karl was 70 years old . Jake was only nine. Indeed, there was a gap of 61 years. But that doesn't bother Jake. Karl, use to live in the  middle of  a Tropical Ooty forest. Surrounded by large canopy trees, Karl was the only odd one out. Jake met Karl when he was on a picnic to the forest with his schoolmates. Jake lacks friends. There at the picnic, he was fascinated to see such a big, branched, and old tree, still with green leaves, standing bold in the middle of the forest. He glanced the look of the tree and named it Karl. From the past two years, Jake visited  Karl everyday after the school. He shares all his daily stories with Karl, his lunch,  his homework, his personal life, family life, grades in Exam and all other stories. He was very much honest with the tree. No matter whatever has happened, he visit the forest everyday. Jake's parents were never against it. According to them, if he likes it, it's okay. The friendship between Jake and Karl was strong enough. No force of the world can withdraw them apart.


Change is the only constant as they say, Jake now started getting more homework and assignments with the consequent classes he was passing. The effect was, he was not getting enough time to meet Karl and sometime no time at all. One day, Jake got high fever, so for a week long he was unable to meet to Karl. He was upset. After recovering , he visited forest but was shocked to see the view. Some people were cutting  down the tall canopy forest for construction of a factory. Around hundreds were already cut. This strange and horrific act towards the tree, made Jake terrific towards the situation. Some people were trying to cut Karl. They were almost with the hangings. Jake gained all his courage and power. He ran towards his friend and hugged him. The workers continued to cut the old living Banyan tree. Jake cried, trembled, sorrowed and pleaded the workers. He tried to push the workers back. But the large and mighty cunning workers continued to cut the tree. 


Jake continued to hug the tree and was feeling weak. But those hand on the trunk continued to hug them. The winds started blowing and increased it's pace with each passing second. There was cluttering of dust all around. The clouds were turning old and grey. Dust was blowing heavily. The workers were boggling. But Jake continued to hug them. He was feeling the love of friendship each moment. He could recall the first day he met Karl. He could recall the way Karl continued his friendship towards him when the whole world was against him. 

The Earth started shaking. It trembled the workers. The ground was shaking enormously. The Earth cracked open and all the workers fell into it. The whole forest was shaking. Only Jake and Karl were standing. The old Banyan tree ,Karl, suddenly showers all his leaves on Jake. At that moment Jake opened his eyes. He was smiling. Jake and Karl both were alive. The moment was indeed extraordinary. Jake gather all those green leaves and showered it over Karl.

Running day and night from one place to another is what one call HARDWORK. But that's not. I know many people around me who have tasted success and many others who haven't. The difference is that those who had followed challenging paths is successful than those who didn't. They have followed casual path. My question is why are we running towards success? God has given us such a mindful body, nice family and extraneous friends. But still our greed is not overcome. I was scared. We were scared. All were scared.  It was a scary and a panic  moment.  Me and my family  were visiting  Nepal via border crossing.  We were crossing  it legally  by taking all the necessary  permissions.
